Wastewater Plant Information

Myrtle Beach

Myrtle Beach PlantThe Myrtle Beach WWTP is located at the end of Mr. Joe White Avenue, near the AICWW and serves the City of Myrtle Beach.  The plant is permitted to treat 22.4 million gallons of wastewater per day and discharge treated effluent to the Intracoastal Waterway/Waccamaw River near the Georgetown City line.

The plant employs several Activated Sludge Oxidation Ditch processs to maintain a high quality effluent prior to discharge into its receiving stream.

The biological solids that are generated during the treatment process are treated to Class A standards through composting to provide the most beneficial reusable product.  The composted material is utilized as crop fertilizer at several of the SCDHEC approved Authority farms.
