Wastewater Plant Information

Conway

Conway PlantThe Conway Wastewater Treatment Plant is an upgraded plant put into operation in May 2003. It is capable of treating 4.0 million gallons of wastewater per day. GSWSA owns and operates the plant which serves the City of Conway and a large portion of the Western areas of Horry County.

The treated effluent is discharged into a swampland on the Waccamaw River. The biological solids that are generated during the treatment process are treated to Class A standards through composting to provide the most beneficial reusable product.  The composted material is utilized as crop fertilizer at several of the SCDHEC approved Authority farms.
