Wastewater Plant Information
Longs
The Longs WWTP is located in the Longs community of Horry County. The plant was originally constructed as a 200,000 gallon per day lagoon treatment system in 1989.
In January 2022 a new 3 million gallon per day activated sludge treatment plant was commissioned. The new 3 million gallon per day plant uses a modern treatment process to achieve a very high level of treated effluent to protect the Waccamaw River. This plant serves the Longs area.
The biological solids that are generated during the treatment process are treated to Class A standards through composting to provide the most beneficial reusable product. The composted material is utilized as crop fertilizer at several of the SCDHEC approved Authority farms.
